On August 15, 2019 I will be participating in a marathon swim with the North East Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association in the pristine mountain lake called Memphremagog between Vermont and Quebec.

The lakes of The Kingdom are a mecca for open water swimming and the Association hosts the annual Kingdom Games with swims conducted in these various mountain lakes.

Lake Memphremagog was recently voted as one of the 50 great open water swimming venues in all of the Americas and the Kingdom Swim has been selected as one of the top 100 swims in the world.

The Lake Memphremegog swim is also referred to as ‘In Search of Memphre’, given the Lake is home to a gigantic aquatic monster called Memphre, at least that is what the locals say. There are around eight documented claims of seeing Memphre every year. People describe it as a plesiosaur type animal similar in appearance to the Loch Ness Monster.

Apparently, Memphre is kind to swimmers.
